Head in a blender

You gotta let it out sometime

It's almost my favorite time of the year.  It's almost summer, officially starting with the US holiday, Memorial Day Weekend.

I've been too busy to blog.  The work has stacked up.  But now it's going to be summer.  This is the time of year when I kick back.  I've been warming up for it, so to speak.

A few weeks ago, I saw The Cure in concert.  Then I got to download the new Nine Inch Nail CD for free and with their permission. Still in the ticket pouch are nice seats to see King Krimson.  I am celebrating tonight by listening to Three of a Perfect Pair and Adrian Belew's Big Electric Cat.  Then later in the year, it's The Police.  I think we might be going to see Radio Head too, and that's at a show that also features Underworld.

Meanwhile I'm putting together my summer mixes that feature the likes of the Raconteurs, Gang of Four, Leftfield, Stone Roses, Weezer, Suicidal Tendencies, Miles Davis, and Stevie Windwood.  If you're coming to my back yard, Club Mimosa (tm), for the music, you better wear a neck brace or you'll get whiplash.

I was at the cardiologist's this morning for a stress test.  It's a 3 hour affair where they shoot you up with radioactive dye and have you on a treadmill.  I like the exercise.  It's the mortality thing that gets me.  It hit me again along with the boredom of being in a bright white room with mostly much older people who were also drinking ginger ale and eating peanut butter crackers waiting for their turn in the rotating camera.  I started to remember what I seem to be good at forgetting the rest of the year. I don't want to be on my death bed lining up memories of redesigning an address book and installing a Sametime server.

So I'll be preparing the summer music and then taking the time to listen to it and enjoy life.

Yeah, I'll still be working.  Just not as ferociously.

Glad to hear you have your priorities straight Andy. So you don't think you are the only one, in two weeks, my 14-year-old son and I will be in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota. We will be canoeing and camping for 6 days. Everything we need, we will be packing in and packing out. The only electronics will be a GPS to validate dad's orienteering skills. There will be no talk of NSF's, ACL's or possible data corruption.

Have a great summer and I hope to run into you at another Lotus Conference.

Take care.

Have a great summer, Andy.

If you are ever in Pittsburgh, stop by. You'll find me lounging in my new pool. Except it will be more along the lines of Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley that I'll be relaxing too.
